Sabrina Colosimo, discusses her mom's rare syndrome that rendered her paralyzed up to her eyeballs, within two weeks. Terrifying! It baffled the doctors and it turned their lives upside down. She “lived” in the ICU for 16 months, fully conscious and unable to move. Her family took turns around the clock to have someone there with her. The experience would forever change them. We discuss, the feeling of being powerless and a small cog in a big wheel, the feeling of supporting her mother while being single and having no one to share her burden. Then there was the untold stress that a family goes through when a loved one is sick, the all-consuming thoughts of having a loved one living minute to minute, and still having to carry on with work and life, the triggering effect and hypochondriac symptoms that come along with a super rare and lightning-fast onset of this disease, the family dynamics that come to the surface when you are forced into this situation, and finally we discuss just how much advocacy they needed to get things done in the hospital! Its a huge, amazing, rollercoaster of a story.. so buckle up!
